Program Objective

From technique to mastery.

"This program supports coaches in deeply integrating the ICF's 8 Core Competencies at MCC level - preparing them to succeed in the new ICF Credentialing Exam (Pilot 2026) by working on coaching presence, professional ethics, and high-level competency demonstration across real practice. At MCC level, the competencies don't disappear - they become who you are."

The MCC Shift

ACC

Focuses on the what - the client's goal

PCC

Focuses on the how - the coaching process

MCC

Focuses on the who - the human being in the room

At MCC level, you aren't applying the ICF Core Competencies as a set of rules - you are embodying them. This program exists to close that gap.

Standard Mentoring

Feedback on practice recordings. Preparation for the ICF Credentialing Exam through observation and advice.

  • Formative feedback only
  • No direct evaluation authority

Reinforced Mentoring - MCC Level

The mentor directly validates technical competencies at MCC level via Performance Evaluation for credential applications - under the new ICF protocol.

  • Direct Performance Evaluation at MCC BARS level
  • Competency Review Form sign-off
  • Replaces external ICF evaluation
Program Structure

Seven sessions.
One complete pathway.

The program is divided into two complementary tracks: four collective group sessions focused on ICF competency integration at MCC level, and three individual sessions for personalized practice evaluation and exam preparation.

01

Foundations & Ethics

Alignment with current ICF ethical standards. Nuanced distinction between coaching, mentoring, and therapy in complex contexts. Introduction to the ethical use of digital tools and AI within sessions.

Ability to establish a robust coaching agreement - including new digital confidentiality clauses - and to embody a genuine Coaching Mindset (Competency 2) at MCC depth.

02

The Coaching Agreement & Trust

Deep work on Competency 3 (Establishes and Maintains Agreements) and Competency 4 (Cultivates Trust and Safety). Focus on psychological safety and cultural intelligence within the coaching relationship.

Mastery of co-creating measurable session-level objectives and full respect for the client's whole identity and context.

03

Presence & Active Listening

Practice of Competency 5 (Maintains Presence) and Competency 6 (Listens Actively). Techniques for capturing weak signals, energy, and silence - going beyond the spoken word.

Ability to observe what is left unsaid - body language, metaphors, tone - and to use intuition without projecting personal judgments onto the client.

04

Evoking Awareness & Facilitating Growth

Mastery of Competency 7 (Evokes Awareness) and supporting the client's transition to action (Competency 8 - Facilitates Client Growth).

Capacity to provoke genuine "Aha! moments" and to structure action plans that foster client autonomy and sustained growth.

Calibration against MCC BARS Behaviors. Identification of competency strengths and development gaps relative to current ICF MCC MSR 2025 requirements.

Clear understanding of your current level in relation to the ICF MSR 2025 (Minimum Skills Requirements for MCC), with a roadmap for targeted improvement.

06

Refinement & Blind Spot Work

Format: Work on specific situations or second recording review · Second Session Observation Form

Targeted work on the coach's blind spots. Focus on releasing control and developing fluidity, spontaneity, and responsiveness within sessions.

Integration of the nuances required to move from technically correct coaching to an intuitive, being-centered practice fully focused on the client - the hallmark of MCC-level mastery.

07

Competency Review & Exam Preparation

Format: Synthesis session · Final Competency Review Form validation

Simulation of representative questions from the new ICF Credentialing Exam. Final validation by the mentor of the Competency Review Form - replacing the ICF's external performance evaluation for the MCC credential application.

Full readiness to sit for the MCC certification exam, plus a structured post-mentoring professional development plan for continued growth.

What Sets This Program Apart

Reinforced Mentoring.
Direct validation authority.

The new ICF protocol grants approved MCC-level mentors the authority to directly validate technical competencies - a significant shift from the traditional third-party evaluation model.

Standard ICF Pathway

External Performance Evaluation

The candidate submits recordings that are assessed by an independent ICF-appointed evaluator after the mentoring process is complete.

  • Separate evaluation step required
  • External assessor with no prior context
  • Longer credential application timeline

Reinforced Mentoring - MCC Credential

Mentor-Led Competency Validation

Under the new ICF Reinforced Mentoring protocol, your MCC-level mentor directly assesses and signs off on your competency demonstration - streamlining your path to MCC credential application.

  • Direct Performance Evaluation embedded in Session 7 New ICF Protocol
  • Competency Review Form replaces external ICF evaluation
  • Calibrated against MCC BARS Behaviors throughout (ICF MSR 2025)
  • MCC-credentialed mentor - meets all ICF Mentor Coaching requirements

Competence is not a certificate.
It is a lived practice.

"The mark of a great coach is not that they master the competencies - it is that the competencies disappear into who they are. This program exists to close that gap."
